                COMMENTS ON TABLE 16A – 2024

                DIVISION 1

Winscombe Originals became this season’s Champions as they travelled to St. Andrews knowing that 8 points would secure the championship.   In the end, they picked up 17 points to St. Andrews 3 points.

At the foot of the table, St. Andrews had defeated Isle of Wedmore the previous week, a result not known to me as the email ended up in my spam file.  The result of this and yesterday’s 3 points ensures that they have no fear of relegation.

However, Burnham, who are playing today, need 4 points to avoid relegation and things must look dire for Ashcombe Knights for their first season in Division 1.

                DIVISION 2

No matches have been played far this week.

                KNOCK OUT CUP

Yesterday, this match was played in atrocious conditions, and I must pay tribute to all those players who endeavoured to play this final in the highest standard of bowls.   Despite the weather, the green bowled well.   The game, however, was curtailed at 14 ends by agreement with both captains.   The result was a win for Victoria Saxons by 22 shots.
