Winscombe  v Abercarn
A mixed Winscombe team took part in our first international tour in living memory, one day to Abercarn in Wales. Despite our captain, Chris Greenwood, being held up in traffic and arriving as the match was due to start a very enjoyable day was had, until a thunder and lightning storm stopped the match after a couple of hours. As we were ahead on one rink, behind in another and two were finely poised the match was declared a draw, and we retired to the clubhouse for traditional Welsh hospitality.

Winscombe A v West Backwell Home
SCL Premier Division 2

A good and exciting game today. Keith Bolton’s rink was last to finish and on the last end we were one shot down across the green. With the last bowl, Keith converted holding one to win by two for an overall victory of 60 – 59 and 8 pts to 4 pts. However, none of this would have mattered without a good win on Mike Adams rink.

Over 55’s Pioneers v Portishead Away

The Pioneers second match was also away , this time at Portishead. 3 substitutes were borrowed from the Originals but this only produced a result on one rink! However, overall performance was much improved  with The Pioneers winning on 3 of the 5 counting rinks. Once again they were one man short and dropped 10 shots and 2 points. Overall it was still a loss on shots 77 – 100 but much closer without the 10 shot penalty.
