I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend and the nice weather.
It was so good to chat to you the other day. As discussed “Can you keep a secret” is going again for season 2.
Details are a little thin at the moment but the bowling club is certainly written in again as another major character. Until we have all of the scripts and things i don’t really have any idea of how much or what the requirements are but my instincts are saying that it will be very similar to last year. Probably 2 visits over the 6 week shooting window with some dressing and reinstatement days either side.
We start shooting on the 10th August for 6 weeks. When you have the time and if you and the committee are happy to have us again would you be able to send over your calendar and days to avoid?

Mens’ Section Report
In the County matches all three teams have had a solid start. The A team have won all three of their matches so far and both the B and C games have won all but 1of theirs. As we move forward we will necessarily come up against stronger teams but, nonetheless, a really positive early start to our season. The Originals have also had a strong start winning all of their six matches and a first round cup game. The Pioneers have yet to find their momentum but, early days yet. In knock out competitions we have had a mixed but not ignominious number of games. We were knocked out of the Club Two 4s comp in a narrow away defeat to Weston Bath, and lost our Top Club match to St Anne’s Park in awful conditions. We won the first round of the 4 Dimensions at home to Portishead and will now play Clevedon Prom on the 22nd June. In the Tony Allcock over 60s mixed 2 rinks we have won our first two rounds and now play Bloomfield Bath later in the month.
In summary, a good encouraging start to our season of which we should all be proud.
Ladies Captain Report.
New members
We have gained three new members who have been assigned mentors.
Unfortunately Christine Hayes has decided not to take up her membership for a variety of reasons.
One prospective member would like to play at Monday Club and have roll ups, She is not wanting to join as a full member. Advice required on this matter.
We have had five games – 2 friendlies, 3 Wessex league and one postponed NSTL match due to the very extreme temperature.
This match has been rearranged to be played against Portishead RBLat home on Friday 10 th July.
In the friendly game against Yatton we won on one rink but lost overall.
Our second friendly game against Mark Moor was a good win and a very enjoyable afternoon.
The first Wessex match away against Congresbury was a heavy loss for Winscombe, However this was partly due to continued play through a hailstorm and one of our players being taken ill.
The second Wessex game away at Wedmore was a win for Winscombe by two shots. We gained 6 points.
The third Wessex game at home against Clevedon Prom was a very close game. We lost by 3 shots gaining two points. We were very pleased with this outcome as Clevedon Prom won the league last year.
Overall we are very pleased with the progress we are making and continue to keep a positive attitude and aim to win!
Estate Report.
Please see the attached email quote from GPH of Sandford to resurface the footpath, we also have a quote from Chambers
which seems very reasonable and with no caveats. I would be in favour of using Chambers.
I am arranging to meet the roofing company regarding the Canopy ASAP after my return from holiday, this will be to confirm our requirements and time scales to carry out the work.
Thanks to Yvonne for continuing the maintenance of the plants.
At present I am not aware of any outstanding issues.
Many thanks for giving us the opportunity to quote for the resurfacing of the path at the bowling club.
As explained, we do not lay Tarmac ourselves but have asked Thornbury Surfacing to quote for that part.
We have approached this in 2 different ways:-
Option 1
To remove existing tarmac and take back to stone base. I have not completed this quote as the 2 layers of Tarmac alone were coming in at £3901.70 + vat which was for a new AC20 binder course, and an AC6 surface course. Additional to this cost would be the cost to remove both these existing surfaces, any stone top up needed, along with the back edgings to be laid along the length of the path. If indeed this is the solution you were looking for I can look to firm this quote up and maybe able to ask them to revisit the price to see if any movement.
Option 2
I have then approached Thornbury again and asked if they were to top dress the current path and lay the back edgings. They have come back with a quotation of £2655.00 + vat. Which would include the following:-
“Clean surface and cut chases where needed ( 80 m/2), remove spoils from site.
Apply a tack coat of K140 Bituminous emulsion.
Supply, Handlay & Compact to a thickness of 25mm – AC6 Surface Course Macadam 100/150.
Lay back edgings concrete 150mm x 50mm all with concrete bed and haunch.
For the Sum of £2655 + vat
This price based on site visits of normal weekday working with assumed good access for all plant and delivery lorries. Prices exclusive of all discounts and exclusive of VAT. Payment terms 14 days.
NB Prices may fluctuate due to market circumstances just before commencement of works”
Both options would require a site visit from Thornbury to enable a firm agreement on costs, option 2 would mean that they would do all of the work instead of Greens doing the preparation, I am more than happy to arrange this on your behalf for a handling fee if you would like me to.

It was decided to not go ahead with the Burns Night Supper due to the cost of a Piper approx.£300.

Wilf asked that anyone using the kitchen do not put fatty substance down the drain.The President wished to thank Angela Ainsworth for clearing out the recent fat blockage in the drain.
M.Smart passed on comments that some members were complaining about our high bar prices.
It was agreed that there would be change in our prices.
Dave Peakall asked whether we should donate 50% of the Bonus Ball takings to the Childrens Hospice.
As we generally top up the amount collected during the year this request was declined.
